from the atlas, take me far.

Atlas is the approved fanlisting for the relationship between Takashi Shirogane (Shiro) and Keith from Voltron: Legendary Defender, listed under the Animations » Relationships category. It was approved on April 14, 2017 and has been running since May 16, 2017.

It's probably safe to say that I breathe and live for sheith at the moment, lol. So much so that I even changed the examples at Dearest which had one of my oldest and top ships as the example. When Shinju removes sasusaku somewhere, you know it's serious business, lmao. Shiro's and Keith's chemistry, relationship, and (implied) past have a strong hold on me; they couldn't be shaken off even if I wanted to. Although I didn't "officially" shipped the two until I finished season 1 (I was marathoning s1 & and was sick, lol /hit), my eyes zoomed in at every moment the two shared, which thankfully for me, were quite a bit. Then, season 2 happened and I was gone. It was sweet and painful. Regardless of how one interprets Shiro's and Keith's relationship, it's undeniable that at this time, the most important person to Keith is none other than Shiro, "If it wasn't for you, my life would have been a lot different" (Keith, s2e1). Shiro, on the other hand, is able to drop his leader persona in the presence of Keith and just be himself. They are each other's favorite person. *gross sobbing* tl;dr I support both their platonic and fan-interpreted romantic relationship.

Atlas is the result of my procrastination (delayed applying until I couldn't contain my aksfdhf fangirling) and is another nail in the coffin re: being a certified M. I didn't plan to separate a future tribute and fanlisting (different names and designs) and yet... here we are. It's what happens when one considers a "perfect" name for the tribute but is still quite attached to the previously drafted one. (And with good reason!!!)... xD;; That and I still don't know how to go about said tribute and have no idea on what to do with the layout, haha. Atlas is my first fanlisting after years of inactivity so it's even more special.

Title "Atlas" takes inspiration from the following: Shannon Saunder's song of the same name (featured in this sheith mv) and the meaning behind Sleeping At Last's Atlas: Year One, "the beginnings of the Universe." The first reminds me of Shiro's and Keith's concern for each other; they're especially attuned to one another's state of being which occurs time and time again:

When you think no one is watching, I'm watching only you. When you feel no one is listening, I hear through the noise to hear you. If you're looking for the demons to play while with your own, then you should look no further. Here with me you'll never have to be alone.

Both have their issues they try to overcome (Shiro's ptsd and Keith's heritage) and in their moments of weakness, Keith and Shiro have each other without fail. The second, I recommend listening to the tracks, specifically collections Space I & II, to perceive the feeling of something being woven so beautifully together. In regards to Shiro and Keith, the former turned the latter's life upside-down. The audience isn't privy yet on what occurred between the two but something about Shiro's words (and Shiro himself) that Keith takes to heart. It's also curious that Keith's introduction to the story revolves around Shiro; his first word is Shiro's name. It's also Keith's final word after season 2 and considering season 1 & 2 were originally one season altogether... Keith's first and final word thus far is Shiro. *insert squeals* What's the hetero explanation for this??? You can make a drinking game from the times Keith calls Shiro's name in s2 and vice versa, lol.

Atlas itself is defined as, "a book of maps or charts" and considering the situation in seasons 1 and 2 (discovery of Shiro in the first and his disappearance in the second), it seems fitting. The idea of coming together only for fate to keep separating each other makes me think about a theme in Once Upon A Time regarding one's true love: "No matter what you do, I will always find you." It's a different story and I'm not optimistic about VLD producing a romantic relationship between two men but I can dream especially in fanarts and fics, hehe. At the very least, canon material, staff and VAs have been good to fans who love sheith and it makes a fan feel so wonderful and blessed. ;A; *cue Dido's White Flag*
